GENERAL INFORMATION
Lombok is a beautiful small island just East of Bali. Unfortunately less visitors travel to this picturesque island since the start of the Asian crisis.

Visitors can expect excellent accommodation, very friendly people, beautiful landscape and most of the time excellent value for money.

Lombok has excellent secluded white beaches, however most diving and snorkeling takes place at nearby Gili Islands, which offer a very good variety of corals and fish. The Gili islands are very close to Senggigi, Lombok's main beach resort.

Senggigi beach stretches along several kilometers and visitors will find beautiful white sandy beaches, and attractive bays with mountains in the background. The countryside is most attractive at the Northern end of Senggigi. There is a large variety of accommodation available, suitable for every budget. The Holiday Inn is located in a particularly attractive hilly surroundings and benefits from a white sandy beach. It is one of Lombok's main up-market resorts with often excellent rates. Senggigi has many dive schools and dive trips to the nearby Gili islands are easily available. A trip to the Gili island usually takes around an hour; therefore, the variety and high standards of accommodation in Senggigi may form an ideal base for diving at the Gili islands.

Kuta Lombok on the Southern part of the island offers probably the most attractive beach, which some dive sites off the cost.

LOMBOK's DIVE SITES

GILI ISLANDS

Gili Trawangan
Trawangan is the biggest of the three islands and the busiest one. It does have good diving and snorkeling spots near the beach, which can be reached without a boat.

One of its major attractions are the different types of sea turtles. They can also be seen very easily by snorkeling.
Most of Lombok's dive operators operate a dive school from there.

Gili Meno
Meno is not as developed for tourists as the other islands are, which makes it rather quiet and peaceful.

Gili Air

Air is closest to Lombok. It is suitable for the traveller who looks for relaxation and peace. There are very good snorkeling spots near the jetty. Turtles can be seen very frequently.

SOUTH LOMBOK

Off Kuta Beach
There are some dive spots off Kuta beach, however due to very strong currents and usually high waves only very few operators offer dives there.
